Website or web application: which one does your business need?

The difference matters because it changes your budget, your timeline and what your business can do online. Here is a simple way to decide.

People use the two words as if they were the same thing. They are not, and choosing the wrong one either wastes money or caps your growth.

A website presents. An application does.

A website tells visitors who you are and gets them to call, book or walk in. A web application lets people do something: log in, submit, pay, track, manage.

    Choose a website when

    • Your goal is enquiries, bookings by phone, or foot traffic
    • Your content changes occasionally, not hourly
    • A form and a phone number are enough to start a sale
    • You need to be found in search for what you offer

    Choose a web application when

    • Customers need accounts and their own data
    • Your team relies on spreadsheets that keep breaking
    • You charge, schedule, or track something on a recurring basis
    • You want internal tools that match how you actually work

    The honest middle ground

Many businesses start with a full website and add application features later: a client portal, a booking engine, a quote calculator. Building on a solid site first is usually cheaper than guessing at software before you have demand.

If you cannot describe the action a user must complete, you probably need a website, not an application.

    What this means for budget

A full website starts at 1,450 EUR. A web application starts at 3,500 EUR because it involves data design, accounts, and an admin area. Both are quoted fixed before we start.
